Join us for a spectacular charter private train adventure into Mexico and the rugged Copper Canyon region during the cool and dry month of December. Enjoy one of the most dramatic train rides and an engineering marvel. The rail line has 87 tunnels, 35 bridges and plenty of spectacular sightseeing and leisure time to enjoy the scenery.

Equipment will be the first class South Orient Express luxury train. All travel will be in daylight so you do not miss any of the wonderful scenery.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
DECENBER 2;Independent arrivals in Tucson, Arizona. Lodging including

Day 2:
DECEMBER 3;Charter bus will take us from our hotel in Tucson to Nogales, Mexico where we will board our private charter train for a journey across the sonora desert. Overnight in Guaymas.

Day 3:
December 4;Our train continues on south Guaymas to Los Mochis. Overnight in first class lodging in Los Mochis.

Day 4:
December 5;Today our private charter train will run from Los Mochis into the rugged Sierra Madre Mountains towards Copper Canyon. This line was finally completed in 1961 with 87 tunnels and 35 major bridges. Hour after hour of totally awesome scenery and railroading will unfold as our train climbs higher and higher into the mountains. At certain locations the towering cliffs will rise 4000 feet straight up above our train. View remote Mexican villages, rivers, waterfalls and endless mountains. Want to ride up with the engineer?, No problem, you can walk up to the engine and ride with the engineer if you like. You will not get this kind of service from Amtrak in the USA. Just before sunset we will arrive at Divisadero Barrancas at the rim of Copper Canyon.

Day 5:
December 6; Morning hours to enjoy spectacular Copper Canyon. Perhaps a hike on one of the many trails that run along the rim is in order. The views are breathtaking. In the afternoon we reboard our train for the three hour run to Creel.

Day 6:
December 7: Mid morning we reboard our train and backtrack down the mountain to the remote village of Bahuichivo. Here we transfer to our waiting buses for a ride down into the canyon to the small village of Cerocahui which was founded in 1681.

Day 7:
December 8: Morning hours to enjoy remote Cerocahui and then we will take you on a tour to view the awesome Urique Canyon which is bigger and deeper than Copper Canyon. Afternoon we return to our waiting train and start the journey down the mountain to the small colonial village of El Fuerte.

Day 8:
December 9: Morning hours to enjoy colorful El Fuerte. We then board our train after lunch and start the trek northbound towards the US border. We spend the night in Hermosillo in the Sonora Desert.

Day 9:
December 10: Early morning departure on our train from Hermosillo for the last leg of our journey back to Nogales on the Mexican/USA border. Charter motorcoach will take us back to Tucson.
