Oregon's famous Deschutes River offers year-round Wild Trout and Steelhead angling. Your Deschutes River guides take you on a flyfishing adventure that includes fishing along various sections of the lower 100 miles from Pelton Dam to the mouth of the Deschutes River — where it flows into the Columbia River.
Oregon's Deschutes River is home to the native Redside Wild Trout. Because this particular Rainbow Trout is only found on the Deschutes River -- that's what makes them so unique and so great to catch - it's also known as Deschutes River Trout. Redside Wild Trout average between 14-18 inches with an occasional fish over 20 inches. The nature of the Wild Trout blended with the Deschutes River's diversity produces a memorable and worthwhile angling opportunity for you.
Deschutes River Steelhead are well known for their smashing surface strikes and long line ripping runs. When fishing for steelhead on the Deschutes River you try to cover as much water as possible. For this reason, we recommend our camping trips. Our Deschutes River guides take you on a multi-day flyfishing trip where you can fish up to 35 miles of the Deschutes River. This alone increases your chances of catching the unique Deschutes River Steelhead.
To uphold the Blue Ribbon fishing on the Deschutes River, the section where you'll be fishing is managed for catch and release angling and only barbless hooks are allowed. Regulations on the Deschutes River prohibit fly fishing from a floating device so all angling for Deschutes River Trout is done by wading. We provide transportation on the river in our McKenzie style drift boats.
