You will follow in the footsteps of the Corps of Discovery and cross-magnificent vistas and old trails and then trace their route by river travel on the beautiful Clearwater River.
* Includes knowledgeable speakers on all portions of the trip.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrive in Lewiston – First nights lodging at the Sacajawea Motel. Welcome dinner at Helm Restaurant at 7:00 p.m.

Day 2:
- Van to Saddle Camp

Stop # 1 – Spaulding Museum

Stop # 2 – Canoe Camp in Orofino

Stop # 3 – White Eagle – Nez Perce Art Shop

Stop # 4 – Drive by Fords Creek (Formerly Village Creek), where Clark first arrived at the Clearwater River – September 1805.

Stop # 5 – Kamiah – Lunch in Park by the river.

Stop # 6 -Heart of the Monster – Nez Perce Park.

Stop # 7 - Lochsa – Historic Ranger Station.

Stop # 8 - Arrive at Camp – Dinner, Campfire activities, songs, and stories.

Day 3:
Horseback ride to the Smoking Place, Sinque Hole, and Indian Grave, then return to camp for dinner, campfire entertainment, songs, and stories.

Day 4:
Breakfast and depart by van to the Clearwater River for your River Tour.A streamside Deli Lunch precedes your launch from Canoe Camp to our private Riverside Fir Bluff Tepee Camp. Sites and topics on this portion of your journey include:

1.Chief Twisted Hairs Island Encampment

2. China Island – (Lewis & Clarks’ 1st campsite on the Clearwater)

3. Orofino Creek (Rock Dam Creek).

4. Lewis & Clarks’ river crossing sites

5. North Fork of Clearwater (Chopunnish River). & Canoe Camp launch site.

6. Several of Lewis & Clarks’ 1805 & 1806 campsites & river crossings.

7. Archeological site at Lenore.

8. Nez Perce History & Cultural Information.

9. Stern Wheeler & RR History & Gold Rush Days Tales.

10. Lewis & Clarks’ campsites at Lenore & our own Fir Bluff Tepee & Canoe Camp.

11. River Ecology and area Flora & Fauna. We will arrive at our camp in plenty of time to freshen up and get ready for the evenings entertainment and dinner.

Day 5:
-After a leisurely breakfast camp activities include:

A. Primitive cooking techniques and Fire starting demonstrations.

C. Bow shooting.

D. Tomahawk throwing.

E. Edible plant hike.

A Country Lunch will be served before you depart for the last leg of the journey. You will be passing more Stern Wheeler, Nez Perce, & Lewis & Clarks’ Historical sites on the Clearwater River. Lewis & Clarks’ 1805 & 1806 campsites.

Arrive at take-out site where a Van will pick you up and return you to the Sacajawea Motor Inn for a Farewell Dinner at 7:00pm and a good nights sleep.
