Everything that is Alaska! Glacier Bay National Park was discovered by naturalist and adventurer John Muir in 1879. Mount Fairweather towers over 15,000 feet into the heavens, several peaks soar from sea level to well over 6,500 feet. Home to whales, bears, mountain goats, moose, and a wealth of birdlife - you'll experience it all from the "Spirit of Adventure" as you cruise back in time into Glacier Bay. Spend your Glacier Bay nights at a majestic lodge - the Bear Track Inn. Juneau, Alaska's capital city is an experience like no other. Enjoy icefield dog sledding, an outdoor salmon bake, the Mt. Roberts Tramway, local shopping and much, much more.

Your Itinerary

Day 4:
Tuesday - The Mt. Roberts Tramway takes you from sea level up 1800' to the Alpine region. Visit the nature center, take a walk or hike to observe the very different plants and wildlife of the alpine region, enjoy a movie about regional native peoples, the Timberline Bar & Grill, and shopping for native Alaskan crafts at the Mt. Roberts Tram complex. Includes full day tram pass with inclusive activities. Select an optional excursion such as fishing or gold panning, visit the Alaska State Museum or enjoy the afternoon shopping in downtown Juneau - don’t forget to sample the local nightlife with a visit to the world famous Red Dog Saloon!

Day 5:
Wednesday - On the tranquil shores of Glacier Bay National Park sits Gustavus, home of the Bear Track Inn featuring exquisite accommodations in hand-crafted log construction, scrumptious meals, and true Alaskan hospitality. Bask in front of a walk-around fire place - the only fireplace in Gustavus. Overstuffed suede couches, handmade tables, hand-crafted chandeliers and lighting fixtures including two moose antler chandeliers create the quintessential lodge atmosphere. Transfer from Juneau's Auke Bay at 11:00 a.m. and arrive at the Gustavus dock at 1:15 p.m. in comfort via passenger ferry while enjoying a scenic cruise through the Inside Passage. Enjoy your afternoon exploring the lodge and surrounding area, make arrangements for exciting optional excursions, or do nothing at all...

Day 6:
Thursday - Witness the splendor of Glacier Bay National Park as we cruise up-close to dramatic glaciers and seek opportunities for wildlife viewing onboard the Spirit of Adventure. Along the way you'll notice the transition of plant life from the mature evergreen forest on the shores of Gustavus, to younger alder and willow growth and finally into the recently uncovered bare rock dotted with primitive lichens and mosses at the face of the retreating glaciers. Watch for giant towers of ice to "calve" away from the face of a glacier and tumble into the water. Your glacier viewing experience is enhanced by the Park's wildlife and marine life including bears, moose, mountain goats, sea birds, and three species of whales; the Humpback, Orca and Minke. Harbor seals and sea lions thrive in this pristine wilderness as well. The Spirit of Adventure features open top-deck viewing and comfortable interior seating. Large picture windows all around on both enclosed decks insure you won't miss a thing. To add information and perspective, a National Park Service Ranger accompanies the cruise as narrator/interpreter for the day. Lunch is served onboard.
