Your Itinerary

Day 1: Tour of the Cape Peninsula will take you along the Atlantic seaboard through Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay to the little town of Hout Bay. Across the Bay you can see Chapman's Peak, which is being restored and may not be open to traffic in Sept/Oct. If this is the case, from Hout Bay you will travel over the Ou Kaapseweg (Old Cape Road) through to Scarborough and the Cape Point Nature Reserve for lunch. Visit the most South Westerly point of the African Continent, the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Return home via False Bay, stopping at the Jackass Penguin Colony, passing through Simon's Town, Fish Hoek and Muizenberg . Overnight Cape Town. (B/L).

Day 2: Winelands - Visit Vergelegen Wine Estate with it's beautiful Manor House and gardens fror a cellar tour and wine tasting. Visit Stellenbosch the second oldest town in South Africa. A University town, beautiful old houses, typically Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture and protected English oaks. Lunch in Franschhoek, a quaint little French Huguenot village. Visit the Boschendal Wine Estate for another wine tasting. Overnight Cape Town. (B/L).

Day 3: To Worcester travelling the scenic route to the spectacular Swartberg Pass considered to be one of the finest mountain passes in the world: an untarred road that winds to the summit 1 583 metres above sea level in steep zigzags and sudden switchbacks with breathtaking views at every turn. Overnight in Prince Albert. (B/L).

Day 4: Travel via Meiringspoort pass to Oudtshoorn known as "The Feather Capital of the World" because of the flourishing ostrich industry. Palatial homes known as "feather palaces" sprang up during the boom years are a distinctive feature of the town. Lunch is at an Ostrich farm. Afternoon visit to Cango Caves, internationally renowned as one of the world's great natural wonders. Visit a Crocodile Ranch . Overnight – Oudtshoorn. (B/L).

Day 5: Travel to the historical little town of Graaff-Reinet, the fourth oldest town in South Africa. With it’s more than 200 national monuments the town has been described as “a living monument”. Visit The Valley of Desolation, with it's precariously balanced dolomite columns 200 million years old, part of the Karoo Nature Reserve. Overnight Graaff-Reinet. (B/L).

Day 6: Lunch and day trip to the Addo Elephant Park. Addo Elephant National Park supports about 200 elephants in addition to Cape buffalo, black rhino, kudu and over 180 bird species. Overnight Addo. (B/L/D).

Day 7: Addo - Day safari in Shamwari which is described as an African dream. A game reserve in which a multitude of plant, animal (the Big 5) and birdlife unfold the very soul of an untamed continent. Overnight Addo. (B/L/D).

Day 8: Travel to Port Elizabeth home of the 1820 British Settlers, Storms River bridge, The Big Tree (Ancient Yellowwood), Tsitsikamma Coastal Reserve for lunch, though the Bloukrans pass to Keurbooms River. Overnight Storms River. (B/L).

Day 9: Travel to Plettenberg Bay, SA's premier holiday resort, then get up-close-and-personal with nature at the Knysna Elephant Park. With the help of the three resident African elephants - Harry, Sally and Duma, in the late afternoon enjoy sundowners on an afternoon cruise in the Knysna Lagoon. Overnight in the Wilderness. (B/L).

Day 10: Nestling on the banks of a shimmering lagoon in the heart of this ‘Garden Route’ is the picturesque town of Knysna. Beaches, lakes, mountains and rivers provide endless opportunity for leisure and outdoor activities. Within the town, art & craft shops, flea-markets and cosy cafe’s beckon with small-town charm and hospitality. Overnight in the Wilderness. (B/L).

Day 11: Leave Wilderness Lake District, George, Mossel Bay (visit Museums, Post office tree) to Swellendam for lunch. (B/L).
