The tour offers you the opportunity to experience the culinary traditions in Provence with a program running over 4 days of activities from around 10 am to 4 pm, plus eary morning visits to local markets. This Culinary Tour takes place in the hotel Hostellerie Berard, an elegant family-run auberge converted from an 11th century monastery set in the enchanting ancient hilltop vilalge of La Cadiere d'Azur in Provence. The setting is the fertile vineyards and orchards of Bandol on one side and the Mediterranean sea on the other. The hotel is celebrated for its outstanding "haute cuisine" based on traditional Provencal recipes and excellent grand cru wines, harmonizing perfectly with every dish.
The Hostellerie offers as well a lot of sport activities such as tennis, golf with its private courses, spa, and muchmore. In addition, you will learn the traditional Provencal cooking "savoir-fare" based on traditional recipes and excellent grand cru wines harmonizing perfectly with every dish. You will simply discover a succulent cooking called "Cuisine of the Sun".
Your Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival at the Hostellerie Berard and welcome dinner. You will be accommodated throughout your stay in the charming rooms of the converted 11th century monastery, now forming part of the hotel.

Day 2:
With no market on Mondays, today's cookery lesson is based on meat dishes and all the fragrant "herbes de Provence" used to make them really delicious. An outing into the scented hills will allow you to pick just hte right fresh herbs for your recipes.

Day 3:
Early morning visit to Sanary Harbor towatch the fishing boats come in and get the pick of the catch! Lunch will be a fish-based dish, such as "bouillabaisse", made from the morning's best buys. Afternoon visit to a vineyard to taste some of the excellent Bandol appellation wines and learn how to accompany your culinary creations.

Day 4:
A local farmer delivers the seasonal vegetables to be cooked up into an authentic Provencal vegetable stew or "ratatouille". In the afternoon, you will visit a charming olive grove and learn how to prepare thelocal specialty "tapenade", made with ground black olives.

Day 5:
Today's program concentrates on breads and desserts- Rene Berard, the Hostellerie's chef, is famous for his pastries! Free time after lunch, whenyou may choose to visit the picturesque village of Le Castellet, with its many arts and crafts boutiques, just across the valley, or, Cassis and its beach and cafes.

The trip includes 5 nights in charming 3 star auberge, an 11th century converted abbey. All breakfast, 1 welcome dinner, cooking classes with a chef certified Maitre de Cuisine, and lunch after classes, including wine, all cooking materials and ingredients, herb collecting and wine tasting.
NOTE: A car rental is necessary to economize n transfers and enjoy your free time after cooking classes. We will help arrange this for you, but it is not included in the price.
