Day 1 (Mon) Depart Cape Town • Oudtshoorn
The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel by 7:30 AM. We travel on Route 62 (South Africa's equivalent of the famous Route 66 in America) to the pretty village of Barrydale in time for a tea stop at the Country Pumpkin Restaurant (own account). Afterwards we continue onto Oudtshoorn, known as the “feather capital” of the world thanks to its ostrich industry. This will “tickle your fancy.” After a tour of an ostrich farm, we continue to our Oudtshoorn hotel for the evening. Queens Hotel or similar
Day 2 (Tue) Oudtshoorn • Knysna
This morning we go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves, regarded as one of South Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. We then drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the town of George, and continue to the popular seaside resort of Plettenberg Bay, playground of South Africa's rich and famous. We visit the “Garden of Eden” forest, where we enjoy a leisurely walk through this aptly named natural paradise, before arriving back at Knysna. Knysna Log-Inn or similar (B)
Day 3 (Wed) Knysna
Enjoy a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon and visit the famous Featherbed Nature Reserve. Take time to admire the amazing view of the imposing sandstone “Heads,” which guard the sea’s entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marches and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch the remainder of the day is at leisure to enjoy this lovely and special town. Knysna Log-Inn or similar (BL)
Day 4 (Thu) Hermanus • Cape Town
After a leisurely breakfast, we depart for Cape Town via Swellendam and then Hermanus, which has earned international fame as a place from which to spot the magnificent southern right whale during its breeding season (July to November only). Arrive in the 'Mother City' late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at a central Cape Town hotel or Cape Town International Airport. (B)
