Alaska's spectacular scenery and wildlife make it the pride of the United States. Grizzly bears and moose roam the bush. Bald eagles and migratory waterfowl flock the skies while otters and whales frolic in waters rich with sea life. Journey with us beneath towering mountains, across verdant valleys, and along tranquil shores. Ultimately come away with a true appreciation for Alaska's expansive wilderness.

Inn Highlights: Magnificent lodges welcome us to Alaska's wilderness. Sheep Mountain Lodge offers sweeping views of the Chugach Mountains where herds of Dall sheep graze. Located in the center of the ghost town of Kennicott, the Kennicott Glacier Lodge is a replica of one of the historic mining buildings from the copper mining boomtown days. Brookside Inn B&B was originally built in 1898 by the U.S. Army at Fort Liscum and later barged to what is now "Old Town Valdez".

Your Itinerary

Day 1: Eklutna Lake - Matanuska Valley

Hike through the valley along the shores of Eklutna Lake -- home to Dall sheep, moose, eagles, and bears. (L/D).

Days 2-3: Kennicott - Wrangell St. Elias

Take a scenic flight to Kennicott, set in the heart of Wrangell-St. Elias, the largest national park in the United States. Explore the ghost town of Kennicott, site of our cozy lodge. Explore the massive Root Glacier, coming face-to-face with a stark, ice age landscape. Looking for more adventure? Choose to hike to the historic Bonanza Mine which features glaciers, waterfalls, and ruins. Or you can take a glacier hike or learn to ice climb! (B/L/D).

Days 4-5: Valdez - Prince William Sound

We arrive in Valdez, "Alaska's Little Switzerland" after a thrilling raft trip on the Tsaina River. The next day we we sea kayak the well-protected fjords and glaciers of Prince William Sound, one of Alaska's great natural preserves. Or, alternatively, take a hike around the bay. (B/L/D).

Day 6: Girdwood

Take an unforgettable ferry ride across Prince William Sound where orca whales, sea otters, and harbor seals cavort among floating icebergs. End the day exploring Byron Glacier or Winner Creek Gorge with an exciting hand-tram across the gorge. (B/L).
