Few areas can match the sheer spectacle of the Canadian Rockies. Our creative itinerary features this region's renowned sights, as well as the lesser-known treasures that make The World Outdoors' trips so special. Each day highlights a unique facet of this alpine wonderland, blending the best of Canada's Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks.
Inn & Hut Trip Highlights: The backcountry version of our classic Canadian Rockies Hiker features Deer Lodge and Emerald Lake Lodge, the same as our regular departures, plus two nights in the heart of Banff National Park. Remote Skoki Lodge is a luxurious backcountry inn featuring comfortable rooms and truly remarkable cuisine.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Banff
From Banff to Lake Louise's glaciers and jagged mountains we explore the heart of Banff National Park. The historic Deer Lodge is our home for the night, where gourmet dining and a rooftop jacuzzi welcome us to the Rockies. (D).
Day 2: Banff
Explore the alpine environment near Dolomite Pass, ablaze with wildflowers beneath limestone crags. Our destination, Helen Lake, is nestled in a spectacular natural amphitheater -- the perfect setting in which to take a break and enjoy a well-deserved lunch. (B/L/D).
Day 3: Jasper
Experience Wilcox Pass, one of the Canadian Rockies' best hikes. The trail is noted for its panoramic vistas of the Columbia Icefield, one of the largest sheets of glacial ice in the interior of North America. (B/L/D).
Days 4-5: Banff/Yoho
Follow the Bow River to Bow Glacier Falls and walk out on the glacial moraine. The next day we shuttle across the Great Divide to British Columbia's Yoho National Park. The word "Yoho," a Cree expression of awe and wonder, captures perfectly the sentiment you're bound to experience. We see 1,000-foot high Takakkaw Falls and hike the classic Iceline Trail to views of Emerald and Daly Glaciers. (B/L/D).
Day 6: Kicking Horse River
Conclude the trip with whitewater rafting on the mighty Kicking Horse River, shooting rapids with colorful names like Man-Eater Hole, Rollercoaster and the mile-long Portage Shotgun. (B/L).
