During your stay at Chateau Meyre, you will have the opportunity to join the harvesters in picking the grapes and have a first hand view of the first stage of vinification. This is the first time Bordeaux visitors will have such an opportunity.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Upon arrival at the airport/train station & transfer you will be met by your guide and transferred to Chateau Meyre. Lunch at the chateau will be followed by a guided tour of the estate with your host. Your guide/wine expert will conduct the first wine tasting class of the program: you will learn all about the Cru Bourgeois wine classification. In the evening the group will head to the famous village of St Julien de Beychevelles for a fantastic local meal. (B) (L) (D)
Day 2: After breakfast, it will be time to join the team of harvesters for grape picking. You will be explained the basic rules of harvesting and try your hand at it. After such an exciting morning, you will have lunch with the harvest team at the chateau where a delicious buffet will be ready. The afternoon will be spent learning more about wine, as the expert will introduce you to the secrets of the vinification of Bordeaux wines. This introduction will be followed by the 2nd wine tasting class on fine wines classification. At the end of the day, the winemaking process should no longer be a mystery, just a miracle. Time to relax by the pool or to play a game of tennis, dinner will be at a local restaurant in Margaux village. (B) (L) (D)
Day 3: In the morning, departure to Saint-Emilion, a stunning medieval village surrounded by vineyards. You値l have the opportunity to visit one of the most acclaimed estate of the appellation. Before lunch in a local restaurant, you could meander on the picturesque streets and shop around the boutiques to search for a souvenir to take home. On the way to the city of Bordeaux, you値l make a detour to Chateau Franc Mayne to admire its beautiful cellars built in the rocks. Free time in Bordeaux for shopping or strolling down the historic parts of the city. You値l stay in Bordeaux for dinner in one of the most popular dining place in town. (B) (L) (D)
Day 4: In the morning, you値l attend your last tasting class which will feature some of the most acclaimed wines in the world (Classified Growths) & try your hand at a blind tasting. After lunch at the winemakers favorite restaurant in Medoc, it will be time to put your newly acquired wine knowledge into practice, with the visits of 2 superb wine properties: Chateau Mouton Rothschild & Chateau Pichon Longueville CL. Each visit will end with a "degustation" of some of their vintages. For dinner, you値l stay in at Chateau Meyre, where a talented local chef will prepare a first class meal, for a memorable farewell dinner. (B) (L) (D)
Day 5: After a relaxing breakfast, it is time to say good bye and leave for the airport/train station. (B) (L) (D)
