Scuba Diving & Whale Watching has been designed having in mind the unique experience of having the opportunity to skin dive with the magnificent Humpback Whales and at the same time Scuba Diving the Isla de la Plata. It will be guided by Michel Guerrero, senior PADI MSDT in Ecuador and Marine Biologist. Michel will have the support of 1 PADI Dive Master of great experience in Machalilla. We will stay in the beautiful Alandaluz Lodge.
This 6 days program will have only 12 places available, in order to guarantee a highly personalized experience. Also with this consideration in mind, we have choose the best accommodations in Quito, the Hilton Colon. Our group will always enjoy the quality service, that has made Ecuadortravel's programs, famous world wide.
Your Itinerary
Day 1:
One of Ecuadortravel representatives will be expecting you upon your arrival at Quito International Airport, from where we will pick you up in our private vehicles and drive you to your hotel, The Hilton Colon in Quito.
Our hotel choice is based on the Hilton Colon’s tradition of outstanding personalized service, sober and elegant atmosphere, and its serious and superb cuisine.
Dinner a la carte will be served in the Portofino restaurant in the hotel. We have prepared a special selection of Chilean and Argentinean wines.

Day 2:
Breakfast at the Hotel will consist of an exciting variety of fresh exotic fruit, fruit juices, fresh filtered coffe, english tea, ecuadorian aromatic tea, freshly baked bread, eggs and charcuteries to your taste, pastries and savouries. A mouthwatering day start before a full day in Ecuador.
Very early on the morning our vehicles will take us to the Airport, from where we will fly to Portoviejo. Our vehicles will take us to Hosteria Alandaluz a great eco-lodge in the Pacific Coast. This very special "hosteria" offers an outstanding exotic milieu, a three kilometers long private sand beach, knitted hamacas by its bamboo structured bungalows.
Lunch ‘a la carte at Alandaluz. Its restaurant offers a delicious variety of Ecuadorian creole food based in fresh seafood, coconut milk, green banana and kassavaroot. In the afternoon we will have a briefing regarding diving in the zone open waters and also information about the whales in the area. After that we will go to Puerto Lopez a charming, white, Fisherman village about ten minutes from our lodge, from there we will sail by the Pacific Coast, where we will have our first dive to get comfortable with the zone and perform the check dive.

Day 3:
Breakfast at Alandaluz. Our vehicles will take us to Puerto Lopez, from where we will go for our 2 and 3 dives. Three four course meal on board of our yacht. In the afternoon our 4th dive (3rd dive of the day). During all the day we will also try to identify where the whales are, and watch them from the boat.

Day 4:
Breakfast at Alandaluz. Our vehicles will take us to Puerto Lopez, from where we will go for our first skin diving with whales. (IMPORTANT: OUR TRIP WILL BE GUIDED BY A MARINE BIOLOGIST AND BY A NATURALIST GUIDE MEMBER OF THE MACHALILLA NATIONAL PARK. THEY WILL DECIDE IF WE CAN ATTEMPT TO SKIN DIVE WITH WHALES, IT DEPENDS OF SEVERAL CONDITIONS. OUR OBJECTIVE IS TO ADMIRE THIS BEAUTIFUL MAMMALS AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE WE WILL PERFORM ANY ACTIVITY THAT CAN DISTURB THEIR PEACE.) Four course meal on board. In the afternoon we will attempt our 2nd skin dive under the same conditions of the first one. (IF WE ARE NOT ABLE TO SKIN DIVE WITH WHALES WE WILL SCUBA DIVE IN OTHER AREA).

Day 5:
Breakfast at Alandaluz. We will spend the morning doing some soft activities in the National Park, such as visiting Alandaluz’s organic farm Cantalapiedra that supplies the lodge with first quality vegetables, trekking in order to get our bodies ready before flying back to Quito. We will enjoy a delicious picnic in the area and back in our lodge we be greeted with a special farewell evening.
Late afternoon our vehicles will take us to Portoviejo, where we will get our flight to Quito.
