Indian Pacific - gives you two oceans on one of the world's longest and greatest train journeys.

The Indian Pacific is the last remaining trans-continental train journey. This amazing train traverses Australia from coast to coast, between the sparkling waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, a distance of 4352 kilometres.

No other journey in the world crosses so many different terrains in one country, from the spectacular Blue Mountains, through the famous green and gold sun belt of Australia, historic Broken Hill, past Australia's first inland outposts and mining towns, through the red outback and across the world's longest length of straight railway track, 478 kilometres through the stark and desolate Nullarbor plain.

GOLD KANGAROO SERVICE

These feature a large, comfortable lounge for relaxing. At night, this converts to two cosy berths. Towels, a complimentary toiletry kit and maps are also provided. There is hanging space for clothes, bedside reading lights, full length mirror and luggage space, plus the privacy of your own en-suite facilities

Gold Kangaroo Service Single Sleepers have a single lounge chair that converts into a sleeping berth at night, as well as most of the features of the Twin Sleepers, including wash basin and toilet. Showers are located at the end of your carriage

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
Day 1 Friday -

Fly out from Sydney at 12.25 noon and arrive in Perth at 3.15 pm.

Transfer to your accommodation at;

Saville Park Suites centrally located in the city.

Day 2:
1 Day Perth, Fremantle & Swan Valley



A great day of local experiences blending the highlights of Perth & Fremantle with an introduction to the Swan Valley wines, native Australian animals and Aboriginal crafts.

Enjoying a full commentary, we begin in the sporty end of Perth city passing by the W.A.C.A cricket ground and the horse trotting grounds Gloucester Park. Other points of interest we see include Perth Mint, the Governors Residence, Council House, historic Barracks Arch and Parliament House. From here we drive to the Perth botanical gardens Kings Park, which during springtime is ablaze with colour from native wildflowers. From the elevated vantage point of the park, we take in magnificent panoramic views over the Swan River and the city skyline. We move on to Lake Monger to view the beautiful Black Swans, the state icon for Western Australia before heading to the coast to see the expansive white beaches Perth is renowned for. We drive by City Beach, voted by locals as the best beach in Perth and Cottesloe Beach with its graceful Indiana Tea house a visual coastal hi-light. From here we reach the historic port of Fremantle, this bustling centre will charm you with it's blend of maritime feel, cosmopolitan café strip and old buildings lovingly restored to house an eclectic array of shops and market stalls.

The final leg of our tour travels through the exclusive suburbs of Mosman Park, Peppermint Grove and Dalkeith, and alongside the University of WA, the Royal Perth Yacht Club and the expansive Swan River before returning to our Perth Sightseeing Centre approximately 12.30pm.

Alternatively from Fremantle you may like to return to Perth city via a scenic Swan River Cruise (see tour code:PFCSV). Your coach captain will collect you again in Perth.

From here you have some free time for lunch (at your own expense) before making your way to the Perth Sightseeing Centre, Corner Hay & Pier Streets to join the afternoon leg of your tour departing at 1.15pm to the Swan Valley. Travelling out of Perth via the Burswood Resort Casino, we move into Western Australia's first wine growing region, the Swan Valley. Our first stop is the historical town of Guildford where we enjoy a visit to a pottery store to view works of local crafts people. Moving further into the wine growing area we make a stop for wine tasting at the states oldest and best known vineyard, Sandalford Wines. Founded in 1840, today they offer and extensive cellar and wine emporium gift store. You will receive and informative briefing about the wines you will taste with enough time to enjoy a browse through their store featuring stunning wine accessories and artworks created by local artists.

From here we have a close up experience with native Australian animals at Caversham Wildlife Park, where you have the opportunity to feed kangaroos and touch adorable koalas. Continuing on, we ascend the Darling Escarpment we enjoy an elevated perspective of the countryside with extensive views over the Swan Valley and further in the distance, Perth city skyline. Our next stop for the afternoon is a visit to Maali Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Here local aboriginal handcrafts are available for purchase and we experience the thrill of a live Boomerang throwing demonstration. En route to Perth (providing there is water flowing) we make a stop to view Bells Rapid along the Avon River, used every year for Perth's major white water rafting event. Return arrival in Perth is approximately 5.30 pm.

Day 3:
1 Day 4WD Pinnacles, Koalas & Sandboarding Adventure



This fabulous day out takes you to Western Australia's renowned Pinnacles Desert, an amazing moon like landscape and one of Australia's most mystical experiences.

Traveling north we leave the city limits to reach Yanchep National Park where we stop for a great opportunity to view and photograph koalas close up. We continue on to the small fishing settlement of Lancelin where we make a brief stop for you purchase morning tea. Be sure to fasten your seat belts as from here we engage 4-Wheel Drive for the thrilling experience driving over massive sand dunes and the opportunity to try sand boarding. We journey on along bush tracks where we occasionally spot wild kangaroos and emus, to reach a lookout point high on a wildflower covered hill with great views to the coast.

From here we move onto to the rock lobster fishing town of Cervantes where (weather permitting) we drive onto the beach and enjoy a picnic lunch and for those who wish, a brief swim in the Indian Ocean. After lunch we make it to the hi-light of the day, Nambung National Park home of amazing Pinnacles Desert. Ample time is allowed to enjoy a guided tour through sections of this fascinating landscape which covers some 404 hectares. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear, bring a hat and plenty of film to capture your own memories of this intriguing place. Later this afternoon we transfer you to a luxury coach to relax on your sunset journey back to Perth.

In spring, stops to view wildflowers will be made en-route (wildflower abundance and species varies with seasons) before arriving back in Perth at approximately 7.30 pm. Please note: This tour may operate in an alternative format i.e. morning coach and afternoon 4WD, or depending on passenger numbers, in the 4WD vehicle all day. Sometimes due to rough off road conditions time delays may occur, please be patient, it's all part of the adventure. This tour may not be suitable for pregnant women, people with back problems and infants, please consult us if you are unsure.

Day 4:
After breakfast transfer to East Perth Rail Terminal to travel in Gold Kangaroo Service through the beautiful Avon Valley. Following dinner on the train there is an opportunity this evening to tour Kalgoorlie (at a small extra cost - payable on the train), see the floodlit Superpit Gold Mine.

Day 5:
This morning you wake up to see the vast expanses of the Nullarbor Plain. The Indian Pacific puts into Cook (population 3) during the morning giving you time to explore one of Australia's most isolated towns. The Indian Pacific then continues its journey across the Nullarbor.

Day 6:
The Indian Pacific arrives in Adelaide this morning at 06.05am. There is an optional off-train tour available. At 07.45am the train continues its transcontinental journey arriving in Broken Hill this afternoon. You have an opportunity to tour this historic mining town, these days famous for all artists and painters residing here before continuing on to Sydney.

Day 7:
See the stunning views of the Blue Mountains when you wake up this morning. Enjoy breakfast before arriving Sydney Central Station at 09.15 am.
