Khovd province is located in the west part of Mongolia, it covers an area of 76,000 km, with population of more than 100.000. Hovd province is devided in 17 somons (administrative subdivisions). It is located 1425 km from Ulaanbaatar. The Mongolian Altai mountain stretches across the province and its highest peak is Munkh Khairkhan, 4200 m above see level. Hovd province have most representatives of minority ethnic groups, they are the Chandman, Myangad, Owld, Urianhai, Torguud, Zahchin, Uzemchin, Bayaduud, Durvud, Darhad, Shaazgan, Savar, Buruud, Hereid, Hotuud, Zalhuus, Hoshuud, Taichuud.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:
To Hovd. Flight to Hovd, the administrative center of Hovd province. We fly at 8.20 am or 1.10 pm and arrive Hovd at 12.20 noon or 6.50 pm. Flights on Fridays are at 7.50 am and arrives at 11.50 am. Transfer to local domestic hotel, (local hotel standard is not you are thinking, please do not expect quality service, but we’ve agreed with local hotel management to improve the service quality including room service facilities and clean situation) lunch at hotel cafe. After lunch we will do a short city tour with visit of museum. (H) (BLD)

Day 2:
To Manhan sum. Drive to the famous cave “Gurvan Tsenheryn“ dating back in 13000 BC and see cave paintings. This cave is located 80 km distance from Hovd city, and is deep 19 meter. We will tour this cave for about 4-5 hours. Visit the Munkhhairkhan mountain, at 4200 m the 2nd highest mountain in Mongolia, where we will have possibilities to study the Zakhchin customs and get to know their traditions and enjoy Zakhchin national music and dance. Day 3:
Har Us lake. Drive to Har Us Lake in Manh sum. Har us lake is one the biggest lakes, where we will visit a Myangad minor ethnic group family. Mongolian traditional dinner. Enjoy the throat singing of the local masters. (C) (BLD)

Day 4:
To Hovd. Horse riding/trekking. Drive back to Hovd; visit Sangyn Kheren ruins, built in the early 1760s by Manchu warlords. (H) (BLD)

Day 5:
Fly back to Ulaanbaatar.
