This excellent adventure begins and ends in Victoria, combining trails, roads and our BC Ferries inter-island connections. This is a great bike tour, sampling the best of three of our world famous Gulf Islands; Saltspring, Mayne and Pender islands.

Cross to Saltspring Island, ferry and cycle to Pender Island. Cycle and overnight at Poets Cove on beautiful Pender Island. Day two brings us back to more indepth cycling on Saltspring Island, crossing on the ferry back to Vancouver Island/Victoria cycling the Galloping Goose-Lochside Trail.

Your Itinerary

Day 1: From downtown Victoria we will tour parts the famous Galloping Goose Trail (the Greater Victoria Capital Regional District), the Shawnigan Lake District, and the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Enjoying a picturesque estate cidery tour, vineyard tour and tasting (see the The Cowichan Valley Winery Tour guided full and half-day touring section) our day will end with stop in Cowichan Bay. With loads of back-roads touring through the lush and rolling landscapes of what the aboriginal people call "the warm land", you will get a glimpse of unparalleled seascapes and countryside.

Luxury accommodation and dinner will be in the beautiful seaside town of Saltaire, located 10 minutes from nearby Ladysmith BC.

Day 2: In the morning we will tour the seaside village of Chemainus; the town that was saved from obscurity by its collection of 38 world famous artistic murals. After a brief walkabout, we ride to the ferry terminal in Crofton and sail 20 minutes across the Stuart Channel to Vesuvius Harbour on Saltspring Island. The stage is set for another cycle around the isolated North End Road along scenic Trincomali Pass, getting a mere taste of the largest and most famous of our Southern Gulf Islands. Lunch will be in bustling Ganges Harbour. Artisans, unique shops, and wonderfully colourful people epitomize this former "hippie" enclave, with the revitalization of a spirit from another era. Cyclists head out shortly after lunch for another brief ferry ride from Long Harbour to Mayne Island.

Once a Cariboo gold-rush stopover (halfway between Vancouver Island and Vancouver’s Fraser River ports) Mayne Island has a colourful history dating back long before early Spanish and British explorers arrived there. Here we will be able to have a late afternoon cycle to historic Georgina Point before dinner. This is an excellent opportunity for stunning evening sunset photos of gorgeous Miners Bay and Active Pass. After dinner there will be a 20-minute sunset ferry ride to Pender Island and our beautiful luxury accommodations there.

Day 3:
We will tour the co-joined north and south Pender Islands, where historic two thousand year-old native trails still exist at Xelesen. Get unbelievable views from Gowlland Point of the U.S. San Juan Islands, Mt. Baker, Bedwell Harbour, and Georgia Strait. After lunch at Browning Harbour, enjoy a brief return ferry ride to Vancouver Island at the Port of Sidney BC, where we follow the Lochside trail directly to the Inner Harbour of downtown Victoria and a final complimentary brewery tour of Canoe Brew Pub and Marina!
