The Tanana River is a minature "Yukon" - it flows through the Tetlin Natinal Wildlife Refuge, which provides critical habitat for numerous species of waterfowl including trumpeter swans, pacific and common loons, grebes and a variety of ducks. Study arctic plants, spy on moose, caribou, bald eagles and opsrey while paddling in style in our 34' Voyageur canoe. This craft is an extremely stable platform for observing wildlife and is ideal for people with limited or no paddling experience. Family groups, senior citizens and handicapped persons can paddle and observe in comfort and safety. Indulge in gourmet meals and camp in tents under the midnight sun.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at Canoe Alaska in Tok, Alaska at 9am. Get to know you fellow paddlers/ recieve dry bags for you gear and get ready to head to the river. Leave Tok about 10am for the put-in near Northway, Alaska. Get on the river befor noon - stop for lunch on a gravel bar and continue on to camp.

Day 2: Continue down the mighty Tanana to the mouth of the Kalutna River and set up camp. Explore the Kalutna and connected ponds from camp.

Day 3: leave camp early and continue down the Tanana, past the Tetlin River, through miles of boreal forest and wetland habitats. Gorgeous vistas abound. Take out at the Tanana Bridge around 5pm and return to Tok.
