This Introductory Basic River course teaches basic water safety, strokes and manuevers in a safe situation with professional instructors. This is a 2-day course. Free camping available, but no meals are provided. Tandem and solo canoes are available.
Your Itinerary
Day 1: The day will begin at ~8:30am with basic water safety, strokes and simple maneuvers on a small local lake. The afternoon will find us working on those maneuvers in a moving river current.
Day 2: Starting at ~9am, we will put in at the river. Once again we will practice maneuvers learned yesterday (ferries, spins, side slips) in a moving current. Shortly before lunch time, we will head down the river. Lunch on a gravel bar gives an opportunity to "debrief" and share experiences. The afternoon will be spent continuing down the river, perfecting strokes and manuevers. We will return to town by 5pm.
