The Albrechtsburg is the castle that dominates the city center of Meissen, Germany. This castle, the masterpiece of Arnold von Westfalen, was constructed in the 15th Century as a residence, not as a military fortress, the first German castle for that purpose. The castle, while designed mostly in the late Gothic style had elements of the Renaissance.
