Beaver Creek Valley lies in what's called the Driftless area of glaciation, near Caledonia, Minnesota. It was not covered by the last great Ice Age about 10,000 years ago. Subsequent forestation by lowland willows, cottonwoods, and elm, and groves of maples and oaks higher up the slopes have turned this area into a modern living museum of rare plants, abundant wildlife, and beautiful valleys laced with spring-fed creeks.
