Belle Isle is an island park in Detroit, Michigan. This sprawling 1,000-acre park was first opened in the late 1800s. Power walkers, in-line skaters and bicyclists flock here in the morning, while picnicking friends and family reunions take over in the afternoon. The Anna Whitecomb Conservatory contains a huge orchid collection and fernery, while the Belle Isle Zoo and Aquarium entice families with lions and underwater creatures. The park also accommodates a variety of recreational sports such as tennis and golf.
