The Central City Opera House is the crown jewel of Central City’s preservation efforts. It was built in 1878 and has been a mainstay of the city’s cultural scene through all the years of boom and bust. Robert S. Roeschlaub, one of Colorado’s most notable architects, designed the building and employed sandstone from a local quarry, giving it a natural appearance in harmony with the surrounding terrain.
