Utrecht`s Central Museum was founded in 1838, which makes it the oldest municipal museum in the Netherlands.The museum houses paintings by Utrecht artists from the 15th century to the present. A collection of Dutch art and sculpture, an exhibition on post-1850 architecture and a collection of artifacts, including a boat from the 1800’s, illustrate the history of the city of Utrecht.
