| Chambal Gardens, Kota, Rajasthan, India is situated 2 km south of the Kota Fort. Its position on the banks of the Chambal River has given it a mesmerizing setting. So, it is no wonder that people often come here to have their picnics amongst such a beautiful background. The centerpiece of Chambal Gardens, Kota is a murky pond that plays home to some crocodiles. This pond can be crossed by means of a wobbly suspension bridge. There was a time when these big crocodiles were present all along the river. However, by the mid of the 20th century, these crocodiles had been almost wiped out by hunting. The few that remain can be seen at the pond of the Kota Chambal Gardens. At this place, you can also find a few rare Gharials, a particular species of fish eating crocodiles that are thin-snouted. |
