The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum (Prince of Wales Museum) was set up in the early years of the 20th century by some prominent citizens of Bombay with the help of the government, to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII of the United Kingdom. It is located in the heart of South Bombay near the Gateway of India. Its collections include Tibetan art, Chinese porcelain, Mughal and Rajput miniatures, and the Jehangir Art Gallery, completed in 1952. The jewelry and glass collections are also noteworthy.
