Chicano Park started to develop in Logan Heights in 1970 on land that had been cleared for construction of the approach ramps for the Coronado Bridge in San Diego, California. Since 1973 local artists and artists from other southwest cities have created a remarkable collection of murals, or wall-art, on the massive concrete pillars supporting the overhead roadways. The park now contains over forty murals.
