Château de Chillon is located some 3-km away from Montreux centre-ville, in the town of Veytaux. There is plenty of history behind this imposing castle that dates back as early as the 13th century. A number of famous Swiss figures have called this medieval edifice home – Counts of Savoy, François Bonivard and Lord Byron. The interesting history on how wars of ideologies and independence were fought and won with this castle at the center-stage is indeed intriguing even to non-historian enthusiasts.
