|
| The Court Church was built between 1553 and 1563 by Ferdinand I. It contains the most impressive of Innsbruck`s imperial monuments, the Cenotaph of Emperor Maximilian I – a sumptuously decorated sarcophagus ringed by 28 larger than life bronze statues, representing the Emperor`s ancestors and his heroes of antiquity. The sarcophagus itself is decorated with 24 marble friezes, depicting scenes from the Emperor`s life. |
