Erie National Wildlife Refuge

|
| Erie National Wildlife Refuge lies 35 miles south of the port city of Erie on Lake Erie in the drainage basin of French Creek. This stream, named by George Washington, has been allowed to retain much of its original biologic diversity, causing both the refuge and the stream to take on global significance. Declining waterfowl habitat was the principal reason for the establishment in 1959 of this refuge in an area where there are over 2,500 acres of choice wetland habitat. |
