|
| From 1825 to 1849, Fort Vancouver, Washington, was the western headquarters of the Hudson's Bay Company's fur trading operations. Under the leadership of John McLoughlin, the fort became the center of political, cultural, commercial and manufacturing activities in the Pacific Northwest. When American pioneers arrived in the Oregon country during the 1830's and 1840's, they came to Fort Vancouver for supplies to begin their farms. |
