Frances Slocum State Park, in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, is named for Frances Slocum, the child of Quaker settlers who was kidnapped by American Indians but who grew up happily and lived her life among the tribe. An interpretive center has exhibits on American Indians and various ecological topics. The park is full of recreational opportunities. Boat launches, courtesy docks and rentals make this the perfect place to float your dingy or motorboat. A nine-mile network of trails provides challenging treks for hikers. There are picnic pavilions and a swimming pool.
