Falun Copper Mine is a historic site in Falun promoted to a World Heritage by UNESCO, "priceless to all of mankind", in 2001. The Copper Mountain is Sweden's oldest and most important mine works. The mine has been excavated and chiseled throughout centuries by thousands of miners. The copper mine in Falun in western Sweden produced the shining red metal for cathedrals and palaces across Europe. Today it is a unique monument of Sweden's history as an industrial nation.
