The Hortus Haren is a the biggest botanical garden in the Netherlands. Its origins date back to 1626. The gardens, more than 21 hectares in all, include an authentic copy of a Chinese Feng Shui garden from the Ming dynasty. The garden, owned by the university and continually involved with the preservation of rare plants, has always drawn visitors looking for an ideal morning or afternoon out.
