|
| Joseph Priestley House was the American home of Joseph Priestley, an English theologian, scientist, natural philosopher, teacher, linguist, historian and important figure of the Anglo-American enlightenment. A rural Georgian manor home built by Priestley in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, in 1794, the house holds what may be the first scientific research laboratory in the United States. Priestley lived in the home until his death in 1804. It is furnished with authentic period objects, as well as exhibits presenting Priestley’s accomplishments and varied interests. |
