Limahuli Garden and Preserve is set in a lush tropical valley surrounded by towering peaks of Makana Mountain overlooking the Pacific Ocean, on the north shore of the Hawaiian island of Kauai. In Hawaiian, the name Limahuli means 'turning hands,' which recognizes the ancient Hawaiians who built the agricultural terraces out of lava rock. A visit to the gardens allows you to walk through the terraces and see the taro thriving there today.
