Lord Howe Island Marine Park consists of the waters to 3 nautical miles off Lord Howe Island, Ball's Pyramid and a New South Wales state marine park. The waters 3 to 12 nautical miles from Lord Howe Island and Ball's Pyramid were declared a federal marine park on 21 June 2000, see Lord Howe Island Marine Park (commonwealth waters). This area contains the world's most southerly coral barrier reef and more than 500 species of fish.
