Maitland Gaol is an Australian gaol or prison located in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. Its construction was started in 1844 and by the time of its closure, on the 30th of January 1998, it had become the longest continually run gaol in Australia. It has since been turned into a museum and popular tourist attraction.
