Built in the 19th century by the monk Ierotheos, on the site of an abandoned monastic community, the Monastery of Profitis Ilias is the most visited monastery on Hydra and of course the most famous. A male community of four monks still lives there. Located on the northern slope of Mount Klimaki at an altitude of 500 meters, it offers a magnificent view over the town, the port and the sea.
