Monticello, Illinois, is the home of the Monticello Railway Museum, an all volunteer not-for-profit educational organization whose members donate their time and efforts for historic railway preservation. Since the museum's founding in 1966, its goal has been to preserve and restore the nation's railroad heritage. While at the museum, you may walk through the display cars, visit the gift shop, picnic in the shady grove, and walk through the Camp Creek Yards to view the approximately 50 pieces of rolling stock.
