| Located in Asheboro, the North Carolina Zoo is the nation's largest walk-through, natural-habitat zoo. Designed to look and feel like the animals' natural environments, the zoo is set on more than 500 acres and divided into African and North America zones, where you'll find animals and plants of those areas. The most popular animal exhibits feature polar bears, seal lions, elk, alligators, elephants, zebras and tropical birds. Indoor exhibits include the Sonoran Desert, the African Pavilion and others. |
