For a thousand years, the Rammelsberg mine was one of the most famous and rich in the world. It was continuously worked to bring copper, lead, and zinc from before 968 AD to 1988. The Rammelsberg mine was the single thing that brought wealth to Goslar and made it stand out among the cows and the woods in the Harz mountains. Nowadays it was transformed into a mining museum and UNESCO World Heritage site.
