|
| The Rebecca Nurse Homestead, in Danvers, Massachusetts, includes 27 acres of fields, pasture and woods. An old dirt road leads to the ancient saltbox-style house situated on a small knoll that was home to the Nurse family, including Rebecca. It was on March 19, 1692 that the frail 71-year-old matriarch, Rebecca Nurse, was accused of practicing witchcraft. Following a trial, she was hanged on July 19. After the execution, Rebecca's children secretly buried their mother's body in an unmarked grave on the Homestead. |
