Tripoli Red Castle The fortified castle of Tripoli (As Sarai al Hamra), was Dating probably to the Roman times, and has been. Always occupied by rulers of the city until the Italians arrival, afterwards the military authority submitted the building to the antiquity department. It stands today as the most prominent architectural feature in Tripoli, which houses the National Department of Antiquities and a number of museums.
