The baroque St Andrew's Church or the Cathedral of St Andrew was built in Kiev in 1747–1754, to a design by the Russian imperial architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Overlooking the historical Podil district from a steep hill to which the church gave its current name (Andriyivska Mount, former Uzdyhalnytsya) this exuberant and colorful structure is one of the city's best known landmarks. Since 1968, the church has been open to visitors as a museum.
