| Water Puppets are a form of cultural expression from the Delta of the Hong (or Red) River, in North Vietnam, an area with a hot, humid climate. The most common subject matter in Vietnam Puppet Theater usually refer to events occurring in the countryside and reflect the concerns and wishes of farmers, who are dependent on the harvest and weather. The scenes of this type of theater represent rural life, rice fields, buffalo plowing the land, crops irrigation, the rice harvest, or children jumping and playing, fish swimming, frogs, etc. |
