| The Great Escape opened in 1954 as Storytown USA a five-acre theme park commemorating Mother Goose. Three years later the park that was geared to small children opened its Ghost Town, the first of many themed areas that would be added over the years. Twenty-nine years later in 1983 the park retired the Storytown USA name and became The Great Escape. Today, Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom theme park and waterpark are two parks, in Queensbury, New York, spanning more than 140 acres and featuring more than 135 rides, shows and attractions. |
