In the basement of the Unibank, close to the cathedral of Arhus, original and reproductions of Viking objects can be seen. These objects were unearthed in an excavation on this site in 1963 and 1964. Remains of the town`s Viking walls can be seen. Behind the museum, you`ll find reconstructions of Viking houses - that is, a stave church and one of the small pit houses found during the excavation at the site. Objects illustrate how life went on in this bustling merchant city from its foundation in about A.D. 900 until around 1400.
