Volcan Osorno is a 2,652 m tall conical volcano lying between the provinces of Osorno and Llanquihue, in Los Lagos Region of Chile. This is one of the most active volcanoes of the southern Chilean Andes. It stands on the southeastern shore of Lake Llanquihue, known worldwide as a symbol of the local landscape. The volcano also towers over Todos los Santos Lake. Interestingly, this mountain has an extremely similar appearance to Mount Fuji. Charles Darwin glimpsed Volcan Osorno from a distance in the course of the second voyage of the Beagle, and in fact witnessed its eruption in January 1835.
