Traveler ReviewsDisappointing

Had a meal here recently and was very disappointed. It is very expensive 200 for two - no starters and two glasses of wine. However the standard was poor for that price - poor choices on the menu if you don't want steak, desserts very poor also. Quality of steak was good but that was the only plus point. The atmosphere is poor and too many staff approaching the table which made me feel uncomfortable - never again.
Best meal in Dublin

Whilst very expensive, the steak was the best ever tasted. Nice atmosphere too, not too formal and not as full of 'bankers' as I was led to believe. Great for a special treat but you'll be spoilt for ever more!
Families Beware

This is a decent restaurant with some very good food - steaks - at some unbelievable prices and with very average service to boot. It is clearly a home for the corporate blue suits and politicos who are NOT picking up the tab out of their own pockets.
Unless you like very, very expensive steak with a very lacksadaisacal staff serving it to you and you are an average to even, upper crust family - make sure you take multiple credit cards in here.
Surely the best food in Dublin

We dined here based only on the brief summary in the Lonely Planet guide, having eaten in Thorntons the previous day. Hence, we arrived with really no expectation of the food and service, other than it was "an American style steak house".
It's difficult to fully do justice to the quality of the food, but it was the finest meal I have ever eaten, bar none. From the hand baked bread served as an appetiser, to a slab of delicious Cookies and Cream Cheesecake which was the size of the north face of the Eiger, this meal was a fantastic treat. Yes, it was expensive, but I'll forget the cost long before I forget this superb meal - it was nothing less than terrific value. Highly, highly recommended.
My fav' in Dublin

I visit Shanahan's regularly on my visits to Dublin. The bread you are served to start off your meal with is just heavenly delicious, but be careful don't over-indulge with it as you will have no space for your main course. Side dishes are also well served. The beef is cooked to perfection, which is often not the case in many places where they don't know the difference between rare and medium (outside France that is)
It's nice to get there earlier than your reservation and have an aperitif in the bar.
I must however say that it is yes over-priced.
