Dedza, to the south of Lilongwe, is noted for its pottery and a short detour from the M1 is well worth making to view, and purchase, some of its products. It is possible to watch the potters at work, and also sample some of the cakes for which their teashop has an excellent reputation. Dedza Mountain and Forest Reserve overlook the town.

Pictures of Dedza pottery

Hi Malawitourism,

Nice to see you here! You know I didn't heard of Dedza pottery. You certainly have to make a more detailed description of it and put some pictures of different objects too. In this way you will draw the attention of all pottery lovers and they aren't few here.:)

However, I am glad to welcome you in Arts and Crafts Forum and enjoy the discussions!

Pottery centers in Africa

Hi pal,

I am an expert in pottery and like to talk about it. My info on Dedza pottery is a bit scarce and good thing you provided the link to them. i was able to enrich my knowledge about Dedza pottery. Could you point me to other pottery centers in Africa?

Hi

I'm afraid we are experts on Malawi, not pottery and the Dedza pottery is the only big one in Malawi. Sorry we can't help.

Dedza workshop

Hi Malawitourism, you know its no big deal that you don't have information on other pottery regions in Africa. In this case you can tell something about Dedza pottery because people usually are laisy to follow the links and it is better to put this in the forum. I saw you have an workshop too so you might want to tell something about it inserting some photos as well.

My best wishes,
Saint Alex
