Great Thrinaxodon
Hi Neal, :)
I have read an interesting info regarding Thrinaxodon: " The discovery of Thrinaxodon in Antarctica during the 1960's by Edwin Colbert was a stunning revelation to the scientific community- how could this terrestrial animal have made it from South Africa to Antarctica without a land connection between the two? Geophysicists have subsequently amassed a tremendous amount of data that indicates that Antarctica and Africa were connected during the Triassic." So the discovery of Thrinaxodon's fossils played a greater role that just discovering of new species, it as well lead to some geographical discoveries.:) |
Neil, that creature is scaring!!! 8| I just wondered whether they were carnivores...

RE:RE: Artwork of Thrinaxodon
Hi Bio and Therry,
Bio, you're right; those fossils led also to some important discoveries about geology and the landmasses back then. Thrinaxodon was not built for long distance swimming. It could not have swam across a long stretch of ocean. As you said, a large amount of geological information has been researched that shows Antarctica and South Africa were connected. Thanks for your reply; I always welcome discussion. You do your research well. Therry, that creature was a carnivore. It preyed on whatever animals that it was capable of hunting. Thrinaxodon's prey would have included small reptiles, small mammals, amphibians, and possibly fish from lakes, ponds, or rivers. Thanks for your reply. Sincerely, Neal |
