Vodka
What is the best vodka, hands down, over the rest and why? I am not interested in flavoured vodkas, as they are in a category of their own.

I think there are several good brands out there. To give names would depend on your area and availability. I drink mostly wine, but when I drink liquor, vodka is my choice. I prefer to buy vodka (since I drink it on the rocks or martini style) that is made from potatoes instead of grain. It is authentic and I also refer to potato vodka to those who are allergic to grain.

Personally, I'm a fan of the original Stolichnaya vodka from Russia. That and it is cheaper than my two other favorites Chopin (which is a 4x distilled potato vodka) and my latest is 42 Below from New Zealand, which is 5x distilled grain vodka. Chopin is on the bigger $$ side and the 42 Below is almost too "clean" for my taste, but if I'm drinking it neat or a martini, I almost prefer it.

But there are SOOOO many good ones now. I like Ciroc - from grapes.
Done with Ketel and Absolut - and no more Skye.

Best vodka
One of the best vodka's at the moment is Wyberowa single estate.
If you can find it try it. Also the regular Wyberowa stands out in taste.
Wyberowa is made from rye and is made in Poland.
Also worth trying is Russian state Platinum.
Stolichnay is ok but Moskovskaya is better.
I heard there is a vodka in the USA made from corn it is called Rain, don't know if its any good.
Cheers,
Nico

During my travels through Russia, I had once the chance to participate in a
Vodka Seminar
Yeah !!!!! That was really great - exept the consequences *blush*
I think we tried about 12 different variations in regard of age, but also in regard of some different supplement flavours ougggg
The most uncredible was an aromised Pepper-Vodka ... never again !!X[
But one I really loved and that was a Lemon-Vodka ... I tell you - GREAT!!! A soft and discret taste of Lemon ... yam yam ...
that's what I liked !!! ... na sdrovie !!!
Cheers
